New trends in foreign language teaching
Our university hosted an international scientific and practical conference for foreign language teachers "Transition from Online Education to Traditional Education: Application of Distance Learning Strategies in the Classroom. The event was organized in cooperation with the National Association of Teachers of English of Kazakhstan "KazTEA" and the North Kazakhstan Association of Teachers of English "ATENK", as well as the NIS of Petropavlovsk. Colleagues discussed the possibilities of teaching a foreign language in the era of digitalization.
The conference was supported by the Regional English Programs Office of the U.S. Embassy in Kazakhstan and Oxford University Press.
More than 200 people took part in the plenary session. These included scholars and educators from Kazakhstan and the United States. Among the key speakers were foreign and local experts: John Silver - Director of the U.S. Embassy's Regional Office of English Programs in Nur-Sultan, Tatiana Letyakina - President of KazTEA, Paul Woodfall - Chief Specialist for Professional Development at Oxford University, and others.
The following issues were discussed:
– enhancing the professional level of blended learning;
– integrating web-based applications into the learning process and 21st century skills in the study of English;
– implementation of inclusive education;
– activation of subject knowledge in STEAM curricula
The results of the conference will be published in the Proceedings.
