International Research on Rational Water Resource Management to Commence at Kozybayev University

The Faculty of Agrotechnology at Kozybayev University has signed a trilateral memorandum with the University of Arizona (USA, Tucson) and the Northwest A&F University (China, Yangling) to establish an International Scientific Center for Water Resources. The partner universities are located in regions with similar climatic conditions (low precipitation levels), therefore within the framework of the memorandum, they plan to develop rational technologies for water resource utilization in agriculture and urban agglomerations.

"Research on climate change and water scarcity are also priorities. This includes economics and water resource management; irrigation in agriculture, hydrology and water engineering, intelligent irrigation of drought-resistant crops; water purification, recirculation, microbiology, water safety, analysis, identification, and removal of water pollutants," noted Altyn Shayakhmetova, the dean of the Faculty of Agrotechnology.

The future collaboration also considers the possibility of joint training for water industry professionals from all participating countries. The first visit to Petropavlovsk by delegations of foreign university scholars as part of the Center's work is scheduled for June.
