Sharing experiences on dual education

The seminar for deans and heads of departments "Implementation of dual education: readiness of the university and business" was organised at the university by the Department of Strategy and Development.

"Dual education is one of the strategic directions of our university's development. Today there are different ways and forms of implementing dual education, so we invited colleagues from other universities to share their experience. In Kazakhstan, we have been actively introducing dual education since 2012. There are already a number of normative and legal acts in this regard. Since this year, we have also intensified this direction. And we have big global plans," said Marina Pogrebitskaya, Director of the Strategy and Development Department.

At Kozybayev University, the dual system of education is implemented depending on the specifics of the educational programme. Students study theory in the classrooms of the university, and practical classes are held at the workplaces of enterprises. In this case, at least 30% of the educational material of the discipline is learnt directly at the production site. In the organisation, students are assigned a qualified mentor who supervises the practical side of training. This practice-oriented approach allows students to learn more about their chosen speciality, enhances their professional skills and teamwork.

The experience of implementing dual education in Kostanay Regional University named after A. Baitursynov was told by its Vice-Rector Elmira Nauryzbaeva. And the Director of the Quality Monitoring Department of SDU University Gulnaz Toguzbaeva elaborated on the work of the university digital platform Beta Career, where all the data on partner organisations and employers of the university are collected. Thanks to this programme, final year students have the opportunity to get internships with further employment during the last semesters of their studies.
