Under this motto, the Psychological Service of the University held a traditional event on the prevention and use of psychoactive substances and the involvement of students in drug trafficking. Students of the 1st-4th courses received information on how not to get caught in a network of dealers and not become distributors of narcotic drugs themselves, as well as on what punishment is provided for such types of crimes. The speakers were employees of the Drug Enforcement Administration of the North Kazakhstan Region, the Police Department, and specialists from the Mental Health Center. "The Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to work to strengthen the principle of law and order in society, forming zero tolerance for offenses. By the end of 2024, 48 crimes were committed by teenagers on the territory of North Kazakhstan region, most of which are property crimes. I would like to warn you that ignorance of the law does not exempt you from responsibility, so it is important to familiarize yourself with the legislation and refrain from illegal actions," said Narlan Zhumabayev, deputy head of the Local Police Department of the North Kazakhstan Region. One of the special features of the meeting was the screening of the documentary film by journalist Zakirzhan Mamlyutov "The Pawnbrokers. Payback." He reveals the urgent problem of involving the youth of our city in the circulation and use of narcotic drugs. The film shows the real stories of young people who ended up behind bars in pursuit of easy money.
Before the screening, the author of the film addressed the students: "You are all young now, you are 18-20 years old. And everything is ahead of you. The guys I interviewed are about your age. Very soon you will graduate from university, find a job, and maybe change it several times. Someone will have time to get married, someone will already have children in the first grade. And those guys will still be in jail because they chose to work as a pawnbroker and paid the price for it. Everyone has a long term - 10 years." At the end of the event, all those present agreed that no earnings are worth people's freedom and health. And drugs are an evil that can deprive a person of a future.
