A round table titled “An Outstanding Scientist of Our Country” was held at the university, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the renowned scientist, esteemed figure in science, and academician of the National Academy of Sciences, Evney Arstanovich Buketov.
Evney Arstanovich Buketov was a Kazakh scientist in the fields of chemistry and metallurgy, a writer, poet, academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, Doctor of Technical Sciences, professor, laureate of the State Prize of the USSR (1969), and a member of the Union of Soviet Writers. He developed the physicochemical foundations of new processes in non-ferrous metallurgy. He researched the chemistry and technology of selenium and tellurium, ways to improve the methods of extracting molybdenum and rhenium, and the complex processing of manganese ores.
Students gave presentations during the event. They highlighted that E. Buketov is a figure at the intersection of science and culture. They talked about his research in the field of non-ferrous metallurgy, ecology, and metal technology, his role in the development of higher education in Kazakhstan, and his literary legacy.
