With deep sorrow, we remember a distinguished scientist and teacher

With deep sorrow, the university staff expresses condolences on the untimely passing of an outstanding scholar, teacher, Doctor of Biological Sciences, professor, and former rector Albert Mikhailovich Malygin.

Albert Mikhailovich was born on May 15, 1936, in the city of Lyubertsy, Moscow Region. His life path is an example of selfless service to science, education, and his beloved university. After graduating from the Yaroslavl Pedagogical Institute and defending his PhD thesis, he dedicated himself to teaching and scientific work, striving to pass on his knowledge and experience to new generations.

Since 1966, Albert Mikhailovich’s life was inseparably connected with the Petropavlovsk Pedagogical Institute named after K. D. Ushinsky. He advanced from associate professor to rector, headed a department, served as dean, and was vice-rector for scientific work.

During the difficult years of transition, it was Albert Mikhailovich who became the first and only rector in the university's history to be elected by the academic community in a democratic vote. He made an invaluable contribution to the development of higher education in the region, paying special attention to the training of teaching staff, the development of the university's research base, and the support of young scientists. Thanks to his efforts, the university’s scientific potential was strengthened, the material base was improved, and research activity intensified.

For colleagues and students, Albert Mikhailovich was a model of professionalism, integrity, and deep dedication to his work. His wisdom, high standards, attentiveness to people, and refined manners left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the good fortune to work and study alongside him.

The bright memory of Albert Mikhailovich Malygin will forever remain in the history of our university and in the hearts of his grateful students, colleagues, and associates.

The Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek, also expressed his condolences.
