By developing a strategic partnership with the University of Arizona, our university not only implements joint dual-degree educational programs but also carries out close scientific collaboration. This week, leading world expert in microbiology Charles Gerba and paleoclimate specialist Irina Panyushkina arrived from the partner university.
Together with our scientists from the Faculty of Agrotechnology, the American professors are implementing a large project funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA FAS).The researchers are assessing the quality of irrigation water from various sources used by farmers in the North Kazakhstan region and have developed methodological guidelines and a digital tool for identifying and managing microbiological risks in irrigation water. The research has been conducted for one and a half years.
In addition, during the week Professors Gerba and Panyushkina will provide consultations to our scientists, collaborate with the University’s Department of Science, and meet with students of dual-degree programs. By initiating the establishment of foreign university branches in Kazakhstan, the Head of State set the task of transforming regional Kazakhstani universities into research institutions. And we are confidently moving along this path. The implementation of joint projects with the University of Arizona will make it possible to bring Kozybayev University’s scientific research to a new level, raise the international status of our studies, and contribute to the development of the country’s agrotechnologies.
