Scientific Seminar “Master’s Degree and Cases: at the Crossroads of Science and Practice” Held at the Department of Foreign Languages

On December 5, 2025, the Department of Foreign Languages hosted the scientific and methodological seminar “Master’s Degree and Cases: at the Crossroads of Science and Practice”, dedicated to the Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event was organized by senior lecturers of the department, Viktoriya Gennadyevna Stepanenko and Natalia Vasilyevna Bubnova.

Despite the traditionally intense December period, marked by examination sessions, reporting, and final assessments, the department demonstrated a high level of academic activity and strong engagement of master’s students in research work. Holding such a seminar at the end of the semester became an indicator of systematic and purposeful efforts aimed at developing students’ research and project-based competencies.

The purpose of the seminar was to develop skills in designing problem-based cases, foster intellectual creativity among master’s students, and assess their ability to apply theoretical knowledge to solving practical tasks. The seminar objectives included creating an open developmental environment, actively involving master’s students in self-education and research activities, and improving the educational process through the use of the case-study method.

In total, seven cases prepared by master’s students were presented at the seminar.

According to the decision of the expert commission consisting of Natalia Petrovna Sheveleva, Isa Bashirovich Teboev, and Anar Ramazanovna Zhussupova, the winners were determined as follows:

  • 1st place – Roman Kleksin (AMDIm-25);

  • 2nd place – Gulnaz Seiyilkhan (PPSm-25k) and Sain Sultanov (Ekolm-25);

  • 3rd place – Andrey Lengard (RISPm-25), Ivan Koval (M(o)m-25), Zhansulu Kaiyrbek (M(o)m-25), Alisher Kussainov (HTOVm-25), and Khalil Minnemullin (Em-25).

The seminar was held in an atmosphere of active scientific dialogue and became an effective platform for exchanging views, presenting research ideas, and developing teamwork skills.

The organization of the “Master’s Hour” during a period of high academic workload once again highlighted the Department of Foreign Languages’ commitment to the principles of continuous professional and scientific development, as well as its contribution to fostering a research culture among future specialists.
