Professor from Turkey Hulya Cengel to Deliver Lectures at Kozybayev University

Professor Hulya Kasapoğlu Cengel from Turkey has arrived at Kozybayev University to deliver a series of lectures to students. She is a renowned scholar in the field of philology, a specialist in Turkic languages and culture, and holds a PhD degree. She teaches at Hacı Bayram Veli University (Ankara).

Professor Cengel conducts research on the languages of Turkic peoples and the heritage of the figures of the Alash movement. More than 100 of her academic articles have been published in international journals and conference proceedings.

“In 2023, I visited Kozybayev University to participate in an event dedicated to the 130th anniversary of Magzhan Zhumabayev. The people of Turkey know and respect Magzhan as a prominent representative of the Alash movement, a talented poet, and a distinguished figure in Kazakh literature. Today, Kozybayev University is recognized as a higher education institution of a high standard. We intend to further expand our cooperation, including in the fields of literary studies and philology,” Professor Hulya Kasapoğlu Cengel noted during her meeting with the university leadership.

Her research focuses on Turkic languages and dialects (including the Kipchak group), the history of Turkic linguistics and writing systems. She is actively developing studies in comparative phonology, Turkic written monuments, and literature.

In 2023, by decision of the Academic Council of the university, Professor Hulya Kasapoğlu Cengel was awarded the title of Honorary Professor of the University. During this visit, she will deliver lectures at the Institute of Language and Literature on the works of Magzhan Zhumabayev.
