Video Report Competition “Our Heroes Are in Our Hearts” Dedicated to Victory Day Celebration

On the eve of May 9 Victory Day celebrations, senior lecturers of the Department of Foreign Languages at M. Kozybayev North Kazakhstan University, Tamara Nikolaevna Korablina and Lyailya Shokatovna Ismagambetova, organized and held an English-language video report competition among first- and second-year students of non-language specialties.

The educational purpose of the event was to further develop students’ sense of patriotism, preserve the memory of the heroic deeds of our compatriots during the Great Patriotic War, foster an uncompromising attitude toward fascism and neo-fascism, and promote pride in those who endured and achieved victory during the war years. The academic objective was to develop students’ English-speaking skills through the preparation of video reports.

Students of the first and second years from non-language specialties of the Institute of Language and Literature, the Faculty of History, Economics and Law, the Agrarian Faculty, the Pedagogical Faculty, the Faculty of Information and Communication Technologies, and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of M. Kozybayev North Kazakhstan University took part in the competition and submitted 58 video reports.

The judging panel included lecturers of the Department of Foreign Languages: N.P. Sheveleva, V.G. Stepanenko, and D.E. Zhumagulova. Based on the degree of compliance with the competition requirements, the winners were determined as follows:

1st place – Evelina Kulagina (Io-25, Faculty of History, Economics and Law)

2nd place – Aida Kusan (Zh-25, Faculty of History, Economics and Law), Viktoria Trebunskaya (PvO-24, Pedagogical Faculty)

3rd place – Anastasia Tushina (PvO-24, Pedagogical Faculty), Ulyana Shilenko (PvO-24, Pedagogical Faculty)

The students showed great interest in the competition, which highlights the importance and necessity of organizing similar events in the future.
