Creation of an electronic collection of monuments of the historical and cultural heritage of the North Kazakhstan region and their mapping using geographic information systems

Project goal: Creation of an electronic version of the Collection of monuments of historical and cultural heritage of the North Kazakhstan region and mapping of monuments in the GIS system.
Expected results: Creation of a unified information base on monuments of historical and cultural heritage. Research on accounting, verification and compilation of a full-fledged digital database of archaeological monuments of the country using modern geographic information systems.
Description of the project: The idea of the project is aimed at introducing into scientific circulation new archaeological sources that have not been previously published in the scientific literature and are the most valuable material evidence of ancient eras for the reconstruction of cultural and household cult and economic events over several millennia of antiquity in Kazakhstan. This work will make it possible to introduce into scientific circulation the materials of archaeological collections located in various repositories, but which have not received the possibility of publication for various objective and subjective reasons.
To make information about the monuments of historical and cultural heritage available to a wide range of consumers in order to promote the history of the region and protect the monuments.
Project objectives:
−study of the collections of archeology in the funds of various institutions of culture and education, their scientific description, sketches and photographs for further preparation for scientific publications of materials from the monuments of Northern Kazakhstan;
−collection of information about monuments of archeology, historical monuments, monumental art and architecture;
−determination of the coordinates of objects of historical and cultural heritage and drawing them on maps in the GIS system;
−create a website for the Collection of monuments of the historical and cultural heritage of the North Kazakhstan region and place it on the Internet.
