Department of History of Kazakhstan and law
The department «History of Kazakhstan and law» has a rich history: the department is the successor of the first specialty «History» at Petropavlovsk Teachers' Institute, opened in September 1937, which was named after the title of the K.D. Ushinsky in 1945 and Petropavlovsk Pedagogical Institute, transformed from the Teachers' Institute in 1955. The department was formed by the unification of three departments: two departments «History of Kazakhstan and Archaeology» (head of the department - A.A. Pleshakov) and «Philosophy» (head of the department - A.V. Nikiforov) united in 2010 and the department «World History and Political Science» in 2011. After this the department got the title «History and Social-Humanitarian Disciplines» (head of the department - L.A. Kozorezova). It was renamed into the Department of «History of Kazakhstan and Social and Humanitarian Disciplines» in 2016. It is noteworthy that in the 90's was opened a postgraduate course in the specialties of «National History» and «Archaeology». The department, according to the decision of the Higher Attestation Commission, was the leading organization in these areas. For more than 55 years the North-Kazakhstan archeological expedition has been working at the department, according to the results of which thousands of archeological monuments of the northern region of Kazakhstan were discovered and investigated, new archeological cultures (Petrovskaya, Atbasarskaya, Sargarinskaya, Botayskaya) were introduced into science. The world scientific community became aware of the Botai settlement as a center of horse domestication, the Baikar temple complex, investigated by a joint Kazakh-Germanexpedition (the monograph of researchers G. Parzinger, V. Zaibertt, A. Nagler, A. Pleshakov was published in Germany). The staff of the department created a museum of the university, published hundreds of scientific papers and teaching aids, the work of the department is regularly covered in the regional and national media, a number of films are presented on the YouTube channel; the department as its own page in social networks. Nowadays the department trains teachers in humanities subjects (Bachelors of Education in the educational program 6B01601 History), Bachelors of Humanities in the educational program 6B02201 History, Masters of Humanities in the educational program 7M02201 History.
