M. Kozybayev NKU Student Choir

The student choir of M. Kozybayev NKU was organized in 1995, the first leader was Honored Art Worker of Kyrgyzstan Kolchin Yuri Viktorovich, who worked with the team for more than 15 years. Since 2010, the choir has been led by Zeleny Aleksandr Grigoryevich, a diploma winner at the International Choral Music Festival in the nomination “Best choirmaster”, a laureate of the Republican choral performance contests.
The performing style of the collective is remarkable for its amazing ease of self-expression, sincerity, warmth and, at the same time, richness, racy sound. The repertoire of the collective is constantly updated and updated with classical works, Kazakh folk songs in processing for the choir, songs of the peoples of the world, modern pop-jazz miniatures performed by various compositions of the choir, using elements of choral dramatization. Choral works are performed in the original language (Kazakh, Russian, English, Latin, Ukrainian, German, etc.).

In 2008, the choir became the laureate of the 2nd Republican festival of choral music in Astana. In 2013, the choir received a diploma of the Laureate of the international festival-competition “CHORUS INSIDE” (Moscow) in the nomination “Choral performance” for assistance in strengthening peace and friendship through choral music, creating choral friendships and a world choral fraternity.

In 2014, the choir team became the owner of the diploma and medal of the First Degree Laureate of the International Competition and Festival “The Magic Way of Art” in Almaty. In 2014, the student choir became a student of the XVII International Festival of Creative Youth “Shabyt” (Astana). In April 2015, the student choir participated in the International Festival of Youth Creativity “Roads of Victory”, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the celebration of Victory Day in Astana and was awarded a diploma of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The student choir of M. Kozybayev NKU is a constant participant in all concert events held at the university, and also takes part in events held within the city, region, republic. The team works with interest, creatively approaches each new performance, with a great desire to seek new interesting projects in order to delight its viewers with a professional, vivid, unique performance.

2024

At present, the choral ensemble consists of 53 students enrolled in the Educational Program “Music Education.” The ensemble serves as a platform for students to realize their creative ideas, develop vocal and choral performance skills, work with a choir, and master conducting techniques.
The choir’s repertoire includes the best examples of classical heritage, works by Kazakhstani composers, arrangements of folk songs, choral compositions of philosophical and moral content by Soviet composers, as well as jazz, pop, rock, and R&B pieces.
Every year, the Student Choir actively participates in choral art festivals, competitions, and concert programs of various levels.
