Debate club «SHYŃ»
Debates are the intellectual game which represent a special form of discussion where the rules are accurately observed. Debate develops critical and logical thinking, the skills of communicative culture and the public statement, prepares for independent decision-making, promotes a formation of persons as future leaders of society.
By joining the club you:
- will make new friends;
- will travel to different parts of our country;
- will learn how to build a discussion relationship;
- will boost your self-confidence;
- will spend your student life with benefit and fun;
- will be an active participant in university events.
The main characteristic of the debate is the existence of rules that ensure the clash of opposing points of view. It is necessary not only to give speeches, but also to fend off the arguments of the other side, to compare your position with the position of opponents and, thus, to convince the judge of his superiority.
Today, debates began to take place in schools and universities around the world and are one of the most popular types of youth activities in Kazakhstan.
The essence of the debate: to convince a neutral third party, the judges, that your arguments are better than the arguments of your opponent. Although the essence is simple, the strategies and techniques by which the desired result is achieved can be complex.
The main debate formats at the Republican level: the Karl Popper format, the American Parliamentary format, the British Parliamentary format, and the Lincoln-Douglas format.
Objectives of the club:
- To create an active civic stand of students of a higher educational institution;
- To train in oratorical skill and rules of conducting discussion;
- To train diplomatically to resolve disputable situations;
- To train to argue the point of view;
- To reveal new ideas on implementation of the state programs;
- To encourage talented youth.
