Textological Study and Source Analysis of Narrative Documents of the Rulers of the Kazakh Khanate in the XV-XVIII Centuries

Implementation period: 2023 – 2025.
Project Objective: Identification, source analysis, and comprehensive study of the documents of the rulers of the Kazakh Khanate in the 15th-18th centuries.
Expected Results: Within the framework of this project, it is planned to publish 1 (one) article or review in a peer-reviewed scientific journal indexed in the Social Science Citation Index, Arts and Humanities Citation Index, and/or the Web of Science database, and/or having a CiteScore percentile in the Scopus database of at least 35 (thirty-five), as well as 2 (two) articles and/or reviews in peer-reviewed foreign and/or domestic journals recommended by KOKSNVO. The research results will be presented in a collective monograph and a collection-catalog of archival and written documents, which will help expand the research base on the epistolary genre of the Kazakh rulers of the 15th-18th centuries.
Project Description:
The project is aimed at:
– identification (heuristics) of written sources of the 15th-18th centuries belonging to the Kazakh rulers;
– textological study of the written sources of the rulers of the Kazakh Khanate, in connection with which a study and comparative analysis of similar written sources from other regions is conducted;
– conducting a scientific classification of official and narrative documents, identifying types, kinds, and subtypes of sources, as well as their systematization at a new methodological level;
– reconsidering the correlation between official sources and diplomatic letters;
– diplomatic analysis and comparison of articles of abstract and conditional document templates;
– conducting a source analysis of official and narrative sources published by the rulers of the southern cities of Kazakhstan;
– translation of sources and compilation of a catalog of narrative documents;
– compilation of brief historical and biographical information about the authors of these documents.
