Kanaeva Tamara Mikhailovna

Kanaeva Tamara Mikhailovna was born on June 9, 1945, in the city of Petropavlovsk, North Kazakhstan region, into the family of a worker, Kanaev Mikhail Antonovich, and mother, Kanaeva Vera Vasilievna.

From 1952 to 1962, she studied at a secondary school and worked for one year as a senior pioneer leader. From 1963 to 1967, she studied at the Faculty of History and Philology of Petropavlovsk Pedagogical Institute. During her student years, Tamara Mikhailovna actively participated in the public life of the republic and was awarded the badge of a participant in the harvesting of the 10th Virgin Lands Crop.

In August 1967, she was appointed as an assistant at the Department of History of Petropavlovsk Pedagogical Institute; from 1975 to 1977, she held the position of trainee-researcher, and from 1977 to 1980, she was a postgraduate student at the Faculty of History of Lomonosov Moscow State University. On February 2, 1982, at the Specialized Council on the History of the USSR at Lomonosov Moscow State University, she defended her dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Historical Sciences under the supervision of Professor M.G. Sedov. By the decision of the State Committee of the USSR for Public Education on July 4, 1991, she was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor of the Department of History.

From December 1980 until her retirement in June 2011, she continued working at Petropavlovsk Pedagogical Institute, which became North Kazakhstan University in 1994.

Kanaeva Tamara Mikhailovna was actively engaged in scientific activities and has publications on the history of the public movement in 19th-century Russia ("The newspaper 'Nedelya' and censorship (1876-1893)" (2005), on the socio-political stance of the newspaper "Nedelya" (Yekaterinburg – Surgut, 2012), etc.), on the history of the Soviet period of Kazakhstan, and participated in the creation of the collective work "North Kazakhstan Region: Pages of the Chronicle of the Native Land" (Alma-Ata, 1993), the encyclopedic publication "North Kazakhstan Region": among the publications are articles about L.N. Gumilev, P.A. Stolypin, M.I. Benyukh, industrial enterprises, co-authored with F.A. Sim, A.F. Shkurko, about the Teacher's Institute (1937-1955) (Almaty, 2004), etc. There is also a publication in memory of the famous Soviet and Russian historian M.G. Sedov (Moscow, 2005).

Tamara Mikhailovna studied the history of the university. Her first work was dedicated to the history of Petropavlovsk Pedagogical Institute and was co-authored with M.I. Benyukh and V.S. Chernikov. Kanaeva T.M. was part of the authors' team of "North Kazakhstan State University named after M. Kozybayev" (Almaty, 2007), memoirs about Sim F.A. (Petropavlovsk, 2005), about V.A. Tsaturyan (Petropavlovsk, 2011), about V.S. Chernikov (Petropavlovsk, 2014). Kanaeva T.M. studied the scientific legacy of M.K. Kozybayev, and her evaluation of his work was reflected in a multi-volume publication dedicated to his legacy: "Kozybayev – Researcher of the Great Patriotic War" (Vol. 3, 2019), "The Search for New Approaches to the History of Kazakhstan in the Heritage of Manash Kozybayev" (Vol. 4, 2019), "The Creative Laboratory of Manash Kozybayev" (Vol. 4, 2019), "The Creative Legacy of Manash Kozybayev" (Vol. 4, 2019), and a number of other publications.

It should be noted that the publications of Kanaeva T.M. were highly valued in the scientific community. For example, her article titled "P.A. Geydeburov (1841-1893) – Public Figure and Editor of 'Nedelya'," published in the Moscow University Bulletin, History Series in 1982, is referenced in the biographical dictionary "Russian Writers. 1800-1917. Vol. 1" (Moscow, 1989).

Tamara Mikhailovna actively contributed to the development of research skills among students. For example, in 1985, she was awarded an Honorary Diploma for participating in the regional history olympiad; in 1989, she received an Honorary Diploma for preparing the team of Petropavlovsk Pedagogical Institute for the republican round of "Student and Scientific-Technical Progress" in history and art theory. Students under the supervision of Kanaeva T.M. repeatedly became prize winners of olympiads and student research competitions at the republican level. She herself was actively engaged in scientific work.

Tamara Mikhailovna actively participated in the socio-political life of the North Kazakhstan region, including as a delegate to the II Congress of Women of Kazakhstan (1987).

Kanaeva T.M. was the head of the Department of History from 1982. As the head of the department, Tamara Mikhailovna managed to preserve the best traditions: a highly efficient team, good organization of educational and research work even under the difficult conditions of the reforms of the 1990s. During the years of Kanaeva T.M.'s leadership, the department evolved from training history specialists to preparing research personnel.

High professionalism, based on knowledge, mastery of teaching methods, and a creative approach to work, are the most important qualities of T.M. Kanaeva as a history teacher. Personal characteristics of this person have always been responsibility, reliability, and conscientiousness. From 1985 to 1999, Tamara Mikhailovna was the Academic Secretary of the Academic Council of the university and the Director of the Lyceum at North Kazakhstan State University.

Kanaeva Tamara Mikhailovna has state awards: for long and dedicated service, she was awarded the "Veteran of Labor" medal by the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on June 11, 1987; her work was recognized with certificates of honor from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan for long-term and impeccable service in the training of highly qualified specialists (1997, 2002), honorary diplomas, and letters of appreciation from the university administration.

Kanaeva T.M. was awarded the title "Honored Worker of Higher Education of the Kazakh SSR" (May 15, 1987). Her name was entered into the Book of Honor of the Pedagogical Institute.

She is the recipient of the Grand Gold Medal "For Contribution to the Development of North Kazakhstan State University named after M. Kozybayev" and the "Academician Manash Kozybayev" medal.
