A wise man and a creative worker

Sim Felix Alekseevich was born on October 24, 1935 in the village of Osipovka, Khabarovsk Krai in the family of an employee of the Amur River Military Fleet. In 1937, during the deportation of Koreans, he and his family were resettled in the Keller district, the village of Dmitrovka in the North Kazakhstan region. In 1955 he graduated from high school at the Agadyr station in the Karaganda region and enrolled the Faculty of History and Philology of the K.D. Ushinsky Petropavlovsk Pedagogical Institute, majoring in Russian language, literature and history. After graduating from the Institute in 1960, he worked as a teacher at the Petropavlovsk Accounting College. In 1961, he was accepted as a philosophy teacher at the Department of Political Economy and Philosophy of the Petropavlovsk Pedagogical Institute. In 1967 Felix Sim entered the full-time postgraduate course of the Institute of Philosophy of the USSR Academy of Sciences and successfully defended his PhD thesis "On the nature of the categories of dialectics". After graduate school, he returned to his native university, where he worked as a senior lecturer, associate professor of the Department of Philosophy, Dean of the Faculty of History and Philology, head of the Department of Philosophy, Vice-rector for Academic Affairs, first vice-rector of the M. Kozybayev NKSU. Almost the whole life of this wonderful man was connected with our university.

The influence that he exerts on his environment, and above all on his colleagues and students, depends on moral and ethical qualities and personal charm. Simplicity and naturalness in dealing with people, a penchant for clear formulations, a desire for a philosophical understanding of life – these are the qualities that, in my opinion, characterized the personality of Felix Alekseevich Sim. I was lucky enough to work under the direct supervision of F. Sim, when he worked as the dean of the Faculty of History and Philology, and I was the deputy dean. The faculty was incredibly large, the building in the foothill part of the city was old, there was only one secretary for assistants, but work from morning to evening was not a burden. Despite his youth and lack of extensive experience working with people, Felix Alekseevich was able to demand, without humiliating a person, to organize a huge educational work without fuss and hassle. Over the years, this talent of the organizer was recognized by the entire staff of the university, and Felix Alekseevich was respectfully called a sage among themselves. All acute and controversial issues in the team were resolved with his participation, thanks to his natural modesty and tact, respectful attitude to students and all employees of the university, an atmosphere of trust and intelligence was maintained in the team. With his active participation, the formation of the North Kazakhstan University itself took place.

Sim Felix Alekseevich was an excellent lecturer, his lectures were loved not only by students, but also by adults. In the University of Marxism-Leninism that once existed, I listened to a full course of lectures on philosophy delivered by Felix Alekseevich. He is the author of more than 50 scientific papers. Under his scientific supervision, a course of lectures on philosophy for university teachers and students was published. The publishing house "Nauka" co-authored the monograph "Categories as stages of cognition", prepared by scientists of the USSR, Bulgaria, Hungary. In February 1995, Felix Alekseevich was awarded the academic title of professor at the North Kazakhstan University.

F.A. Sim was engaged in a lot of public work, he was always involved in solving the most pressing issues of the life of the city and the region. In 2000, Sim F.A. was one of the first to support the idea of creating schools for gifted children, he himself headed such a school-lyceum "Daryn" as its scientific supervisor. For many years he headed the regional organization of the society "Knowledge", was the first chairman of the regional Korean cultural center of the Assembly of Peoples of Kazakhstan.

The contribution of Sim F.A. to the development of culture and education has received universal recognition. He was awarded medals: "Eren enbegi ushin", "Astana", "10 years of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, "For long and conscientious work"; badges: "Honorary Worker of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan", "For excellent achievements in the work of higher education", "Excellent of education of the USSR", "Excellent of public education of the Kazakh SSR". He was awarded Honorary diplomas by: Akim of the North Kazakhstan region, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan, the North Kazakhstan Council of People's Deputies, the North Kazakhstan Regional Administration and others. In 2006, by the decision of the regional maslikhat and akim of the region, Sim F.A. was awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of the North Kazakhstan region".

Felix Alekseevich has worked at the university for more than 45 years. At the Manash Kozybayev NKSU, they do not forget those who devoted their lives to serving their university. On September 15, 2009, the grand opening of the Sim F.A. auditorium took place at the university; on September 18, 2014 – the opening of a memorial plaque dedicated to the first vice-rector of the NKSU Felix Sim. Current and future generations of students will remember this wise man and a real Teacher.
