11 Medals at the Student Sports League

Our athletes participated in the Republican Student Sports League 2024 held at Nazarbayev University, Astana. The teams competed with 54 university teams in Kazakhstan. Kozybayev University athletes competed in swimming, traditional Kazakh wrestling (kazaksha kures), kickboxing, and basketball. Our swimmers won the most medals.

Among women, Myroslava Pryhozhenko dominated the 50 and 100-meter freestyle events. Additionally, Myroslava won silver in the 50-meter butterfly. Artem Kazantsev won gold and silver medals in the men's 50 and 100-meter breaststroke, respectively. The relay race 4x50m was also successful, with first place in freestyle and second place in the medley.

The relay team consisted of students from the Pedagogical Faculty: Myroslava Pryhozhenko, Yulia Bezushko, Artem Litvinenko, and Artem Kazantsev. Our men's team took second place overall. Thus, combining all victories, Kozybayev University's swimming team took the second position in the overall standings of the Student Sports League!

Dias Askandirov became the silver medalist in kickboxing in the 54 kg weight category. In a tough final match, he only lost to the four-time champion of Kazakhstan. Another "silver" was brought to the university by wrestler Dmitry Diner in Kazaksha kures in the 82 kg weight category. In total, 24 of our students participated in the Sports League. Half of them returned home with medals! Congratulations to the athletes and coaching staff!
