University and Agribusiness: New Areas of Practice-Oriented Cooperation Kozybayev University
University and Agribusiness: New Areas of Practice-Oriented Cooperation

As part of a working visit, Chairman of the Executive Board - Rector Yerbol Issakayev and representatives of the Faculty of Agrotechnology visited the Gabit Musrepov District. The first site visited was the Novoishimsky Feed Mill, a modern feed-processing enterprise that plays a key role in developing the region’s feed base. The plant specializes in deep processing of grain raw materials and produces up to 2,500 tons of feed flour per day. This year, the enterprise launched a new line of activity – “Contract Feed Production,” which makes it possible to develop and manufacture high-performance feed rations based on individual farm formulations and supply them to dairy and beef farms across the region. The second site visited was Budyonnoye LLP, a modern dairy farm focused on the development of high-productivity livestock farming. To date, the first batch of pedigree cattle has already been delivered to the farm, and additional shipments are expected, allowing the enterprise to gradually reach its projected capacity. During the visit, participants thoroughly reviewed animal housing and feeding technologies, the organization of production processes, and veterinary support issues. Following the visit, the parties reached a mutual understanding on expanding practice-oriented cooperation. They agreed to organize industrial internships for students, involve enterprises in the educational process, and collaborate within a consortium of organizations in priority areas of agricultural science. A separate outcome of the meeting was an agreement to jointly develop a roadmap for key areas of cooperation - from feed quality assessment and ration optimization to scientific support of livestock projects.

Students Took Part in the Discussion of the Constitutional Reform Kozybayev University
Students Took Part in the Discussion of the Constitutional Reform

A dialogue platform meeting titled “Talqylau”, dedicated to discussing the key directions of the Constitutional Reform of the Republic of Kazakhstan, was held at Kozybayev University. The event brought together students of the International Campus, university staff and faculty members, as well as deputies of the city maslikhat and representatives of the “Bolashak” branch of the AMANAT party. As noted by the participants, today there is a growing public demand for justice, transparency, government accountability, and real citizen participation in governing the country. It is precisely this demand that has become the starting point for the constitutional transformations. “It is here, in the university environment, that critical thinking, civic engagement, and a sense of responsibility for the country’s future are formed. Faculty members and students play a key role in shaping public dialogue. Constitutional reform is an important stage in the development of the state and society. Its successful implementation is impossible without the conscious participation of citizens, especially young people and the academic community,” said Alexander Zel, Acting Executive Secretary of the “Bolashak” branch of the AMANAT party. The draft of the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan is a document that, in terms of its content and scale of changes, goes far beyond ordinary constitutional amendments. “The Constitution is about your future. It is a document that determines who will represent your interests in the country, how elections will be conducted, what rights and responsibilities will be established, and much more. There is currently a lot of misinformation online about the Constitutional reform. Therefore, it is important for everyone to review the new draft independently, reflect on it personally, identify the provisions that resonate with them or those they disagree with. The discussion of this draft is ongoing, amendments are being introduced, and the commission is working daily. So if you have suggestions, you can submit them,” addressed city maslikhat deputy Elena Semidotskikh to the students. Students had the opportunity to ask clarifying questions and express their opinions on the proposed amendments. In conclusion, the participants agreed that the draft of the new Constitution is not a rejection of accumulated experience, but rather its qualitative rethinking aimed at strengthening trust between the state and its citizens.

The university hosted a guest lecture titled “What Really Influences Students’ Academic Achievement (in the Context of John Hattie’s Global Research).” The event was held within the framework of the “Оrleu – Kozybayev University” project and aimed at strengthening partnership ties with the Institute of Professional Development of the North Kazakhstan Region, a branch of JSC “National Center for Advanced Training Оrleu.” The keynote speaker was Leila Almagambetova, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, Director of the Institute of Professional Development for the North Kazakhstan Region, and a graduate of our university. The lecture was organized as part of the course “Contextualization of Educational Reforms” for second-year students enrolled in joint teacher education programs with the University of Arizona. The purpose of the guest lecture was to present and discuss, from the perspective of pedagogical practice, one of the most complex issues in the education system—assessment, which, alongside teaching and learning, is a key focus of educational reforms. The discussion was based on materials and findings from global research by John Hattie, an education researcher and professor at the University of Melbourne. Students were not passive listeners during the lecture. Based on their analytical engagement with the material, they worked on designing personal insights related to the application of assessment resources and tools. Discussion of the Draft New Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan Held at Kozybayev University

A discussion of the draft new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan took place at Kozybayev University. The event brought together representatives of the university community, maslikhat deputies, members of the Public Council, and student youth. For the region’s only university, the draft of the Fundamental Law is of particular significance. It was developed on the initiative of the President and is the result of multi-level work. The proposed changes affect most provisions of the current Constitution, shaping a new constitutional architecture oriented toward contemporary challenges. “For the first time, at the level of the Preamble, education, science, culture, and innovation are закреплены as key values of the country’s development and are further reinforced through specific legal provisions in the articles and clauses of the draft. This means that these priorities become the highest legal guideline for all branches of government. For us, this is a signal of the increased role of higher education, science, and academic responsibility,” noted Chairman of the Executive Board - Rector Yerbol Issakayev. During the meeting, participants were presented with the key provisions of the draft new Constitution. Speakers highlighted its positive aspects as well as points that, in their view, require further refinement, and discussed the significance of the proposed changes for the future development of the state and society. The participants had the opportunity to ask questions of interest and exchange views in an open and constructive dialogue.
