During your years of study, you not only deepened your knowledge but also contributed to science by working on dissertations and participating in international scientific and practical conferences. Today, our region needs qualified professionals more than ever. “Оrleu – Kozybayev University” Project: A Dialogue on the Quality of Assessment in Education

The university hosted a guest lecture titled “What Really Influences Students’ Academic Achievement (in the Context of John Hattie’s Global Research).” The event was held within the framework of the “Оrleu – Kozybayev University” project and aimed at strengthening partnership ties with the Institute of Professional Development of the North Kazakhstan Region, a branch of JSC “National Center for Advanced Training Оrleu.” The keynote speaker was Leila Almagambetova, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, Director of the Institute of Professional Development for the North Kazakhstan Region, and a graduate of our university. The lecture was organized as part of the course “Contextualization of Educational Reforms” for second-year students enrolled in joint teacher education programs with the University of Arizona. The purpose of the guest lecture was to present and discuss, from the perspective of pedagogical practice, one of the most complex issues in the education system—assessment, which, alongside teaching and learning, is a key focus of educational reforms. The discussion was based on materials and findings from global research by John Hattie, an education researcher and professor at the University of Melbourne. Students were not passive listeners during the lecture. Based on their analytical engagement with the material, they worked on designing personal insights related to the application of assessment resources and tools. As a result of the event, the authors of the best questions on the topic, demonstrating critical thinking, received the monograph “Scientific and Methodological Foundations for the Formation of Competencies of Continuous Professional Development in Conditions of Academic Autonomy of a University” by Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences A. Murzalinova.

Discussion of the Draft New Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan Held at Kozybayev University

A discussion of the draft new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan took place at Kozybayev University. The event brought together representatives of the university community, maslikhat deputies, members of the Public Council, and student youth. For the region’s only university, the draft of the Fundamental Law is of particular significance. It was developed on the initiative of the President and is the result of multi-level work. The proposed changes affect most provisions of the current Constitution, shaping a new constitutional architecture oriented toward contemporary challenges. “For the first time, at the level of the Preamble, education, science, culture, and innovation are закреплены as key values of the country’s development and are further reinforced through specific legal provisions in the articles and clauses of the draft. This means that these priorities become the highest legal guideline for all branches of government. For us, this is a signal of the increased role of higher education, science, and academic responsibility,” noted Chairman of the Executive Board - Rector Yerbol Issakayev. During the meeting, participants were presented with the key provisions of the draft new Constitution. Speakers highlighted its positive aspects as well as points that, in their view, require further refinement, and discussed the significance of the proposed changes for the future development of the state and society. The participants had the opportunity to ask questions of interest and exchange views in an open and constructive dialogue.

The Role of Youth in Constitutional Reforms Kozybayev University
The Role of Youth in Constitutional Reforms

At the university faculties, with the support of the “Bolashak” branch of the AMANAT party, meetings are being held with students dedicated to discussing the draft of the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This week, such events took place at the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literature, the Faculty of Economics and Law, and the Agronomy Faculty. The draft of the new Constitution is not just an updated document. It reflects the maturity of our society and serves as a direct response to citizens’ demands for justice, transparency, and genuine participation in the governance of the country. In his speech, Acting Secretary of the “Bolashak” branch of the AMANAT party, Alexander Zel, emphasized the role of youth in the constitutional process: "The new Constitution establishes the rules of life for decades ahead. It is extremely important that the younger generation does not remain a passive observer but consciously participates in the discussion and understands how exactly these norms will function in real life." During the meetings, a lively dialogue takes place with students, covering issues related to citizens’ rights and freedoms, the updated structure of governance, and youth participation in the socio-political life of the country. Speakers provide detailed explanations of the key changes proposed in the draft Constitution, emphasizing that the initiatives are aimed at improving the political system, building a just society, and strengthening the protection of citizens’ rights and freedoms. It was noted during the discussion that the draft of the new Constitution provides for systemic changes designed to develop democratic institutions, strengthen the balance of powers, increase the accountability of state bodies to society, and reinforce social guarantees. During the dialogue, young people asked the speakers specific questions and received well-reasoned answers based on legal norms.

Seed Day 2026 Kozybayev University
Seed Day 2026

Kozybayev University took part in the international conference “Seed Day 2026. Qyzylzhar”, dedicated to seed production and the sustainable development of the agro-industrial complex. The conference brought together representatives from more than ten countries, including Germany, Russia, France, China, Austria, and others. “Our region is an agricultural one, and, undoubtedly, agriculture is one of the vital sectors of our economy. Sustainable agricultural development begins long before machinery enters the fields. The foundation of the harvest is laid at the stage of seed selection, preparation, and reproduction. Yield capacity, climate adaptability, and competitiveness directly depend on seed quality. In this regard, the development of seed production is one of the key priorities of the state agricultural policy,” noted the Akim of North Kazakhstan Region, Gauyez Nurmukhambetov. As part of the conference, a specialized exhibition of the agro-industrial sector was organized, where more than 28 companies presented the latest developments and solutions for agriculture, including seeds, plant protection products, agricultural machinery, as well as digital technologies and solutions for the agro-industrial complex. Kozybayev University showcased analytical equipment for determining feed quality (26 calibrations based on key nutritional indicators), as well as a FOSS milk quality analyzer. The operation of the equipment was demonstrated in real time to regional authorities and agricultural producers. The equipment was purchased this year as part of the implementation of a program-targeted funding project at the university. In addition, the university has laboratory equipment for determining grain quality indicators and for conducting agrochemical soil analysis. “The university intends to provide agricultural producers with services for these types of analyses. The presented equipment has generated strong practical interest, as it is currently one of the most advanced solutions in the region, and farmers are interested in cooperating with us in this area,” said Dean of the Faculty of Agrotechnology, Altyn Shayakhmetova. Our university has been training specialists for the agricultural sector for more than 20 years. It was especially gratifying to see our graduates at the event—many of whom have become successful business owners, managers, and industry professionals—visiting their alma mater’s stand, sharing their plans, and expressing their gratitude. We sincerely celebrate the achievements of our graduates and remain always open to cooperation and further joint efforts to develop the region’s agro-industrial complex.
